over a foot long...
Your pregnancy: 25 weeks
How your baby's growing
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.Wednesday, May 20, 2009
all as it should be...
today we had our appt. with the genetic dr. and the fetal echocardiogram to take a look at the baby's heart and make sure there was nothing wrong (having a cleft lip can be connected with heart defects)...but much to our relief everything with our little guy's heart is normal...all the parts are there and doing what they should be doing...thanks for the thoughts and prayers...

here is what is happening during this upcoming week of growth...
here is what is happening during this upcoming week of growth...
Your pregnancy: 24 weeks
How your baby's growing:
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.Sunday, May 10, 2009
mother's day weekend
this weekend has been great...i came home thursday to a dozen mixed color roses from dominic's dad and step-moim with a card that said happy mother's day for the mom-to-be...saturday had dom and i doing yard work in the morning...dom mowed the lawn (i tried but i think the noise of the mower was upsetting the little guy because he was really kicking me) so i moved down to a garden that we have in the backyard...the previous owners planted tulips in this garden...

this garden had black plastic edging that surrounded it...it was in bad shape and looked tacky so dom tore it out for me...he has been collecting small rocks and boulders from around our property for me to use as a border....so i put the new rock boulder edging in place, weeded the garden and cleaned it up...here are some pics of what it looks like now...

this next picture is of the herb garden part of the garden...
the weekend has ended with my grandma rene's buttermilk pancakes with bacon, a couple of naps, mom-to-be card from shelly and richard, and phone calls filled with happy mother's day wishes....thank you to everyone
my biggest wish for mother's day was to be able to feel our little guy moving with my hands....while watching tom and jerry this morning in bed with my hands on my belly i felt him a couple of times...dom got to feel it too....i almost started to cry...thank you little guy for the movement!!
